As hinted at earlier in kam's SB thread about the rules here, Ice Wolf and I have decided, at least as a trial run, to exempt ourselves from the "no flaming" rule as flamees. That is to say, you may now go for yer lives with complaint threads about the administration, and you can wear a hole in your thesaurus when doing so. There are just a few simple guidelines for this:
- Please post all such threads in ASHITG, even if they are mild. General ATMB-style board questions still go in The Drum.
- Flaming of Ice Wolf and me is permitted only in relation to administrative matters, not general board social ones (ie. don't try to get up me over Iraq or anything, just because it's got "administrator" under my name).
- If you choose to exercise this new power, bear in mind that by doing so you waive your own rights to be protected by the 'no flaming' rule in that thread. In other words, I'll get right back up ya.
- Notwithstanding the above, Ice Wolf has indicated to me that she will probably not be particularly interested in responding to the more scathing threads. This is her right, and you now know about it up front, so no point bitching about it too hard later. I, on the other hand, will no doubt give you some sport, so drag out the asbestos undies.
Now, as I said in the other thread, I have no problem with this as a concept. Ice Wolf doesn't either, but she is not interested in massive flaming of her own. That said, I also have no problem with not changing the rule either. I'm kinda neutral on the issue. If it proves too divisive or disruptive, I'll pull the plug v. quickly indeed. On the other hand, it might just work. For those who want the 'no flaming' rule dropped across the board, I would suggest that as this is a small step in that direction, you play your own part to ensure this experiment is a successful one. It's no skin off my nose either way, really.
